Bringing the Fun Back to Healing

My name is Jessenia Nauta.

My pronouns are they/them. I am a somatic healer, multidisciplinary artist, author, and the founder of somaCREATIVE™. For 15 years I played as a visual effects artist on Marvel and Disney films — Avengers, Cinderella, and many others in between. I grew up in Jersey, built a six-figure career, traveled the world, and still met an unfulfillment I didn't have words for.

The first big opening came in 2013. Five years of pushing myself. 90-hour weeks. No play. Nothing but the numbness that comes from that. The questions of, what am I here for?

The second came in 2024, when I was assaulted, in ways I didn't expect — and left me more curious than broken.

I could blame the VFX industry. I could even blame the person who assaulted me. Many people do — and staying there keeps you in a repetitive pattern, forever connected to them as the reason for your misfortune. Instead, through somatics, and a fun container of creativity, I found I could transform.

Somatics is the one path that supports artists of any caliber to reconnect their nervous systems to their art in a fun way. Allowing art to be fun again. Even the art of living. Not so much the technical know-how, or the skills, or even the talent, but through somatics, allowing the process of being creative to be fun again, refueling multiple sides of ourselves.

Founding somaCREATIVE™ is my way of answering that unfulfillment I met, that called to me when I didn't have answers. Someone to talk to about what felt deeper than how pretty I can make an image. And at the end of the day, to let healing be fun.

Here, I share the wisdom I've gathered from different traditions, paths of life, and failures, and melt them all together to offer you somaCREATIVE™ — a pathway that supports every artist to come back home, and make that path on the way home a fun one.

This is also a bilingual space, growing into itself. I am doing my best to show up in both English and Spanish, with tenderness and patience for the process. Thank you for being here with me as it unfolds.
