After a Decade of Rebuilding My Creative Fire — Here's the One Thing That Actually Works
After a significant creative burnout in 2013 — my first staff job, right out of college, boundaries weren't something anyone taught — it's taken a decade of rebuilding my creative fire to arrive at what I'm here to share.
Because I keep hearing two voices.
The ones who want to leave everything behind. And the ones who stay — pushing through, self-sacrificing their health, their creative outlets, their bodies — just to keep up.
I've lived both sides. Moving through my own world of should I leave, coming back when something called me, loving what I was being given, weaving back and forth. For years.
And what I've come to realize — through all of it — is this:
The number one way to resolve creative burnout is by building a deeply devotional commitment to your body. Through somatics.
Not intensive yoga sessions. Not traveling to Kilimanjaro and climbing your way to enlightenment. It can be those things. But it doesn't have to be.
It's more about the intentionality of bringing your body with you as you create. That's what resolves creative burnout in the long run. Not discipline. Not hustle. Not pushing through to the other side.
Just — bringing yourself with you.
What is somatics exactly?
Somatics is the practice of building a relationship with your body as a source of information. Not just a vehicle you manage between deadlines. Not something you pick up after a big project is done.
A vessel. Something you can actually listen to. Something you can trust to guide you.
When we spend hours a day in front of screens — working, creating, producing — our nervous system learns to survive by leaving the body behind. We live from the neck up. We operate through only the doorways of existence that were approved by the world around us.
And slowly — the creative fire goes quiet.
Not because the talent disappeared. Because the body that holds the talent stopped feeling safe enough to create freely.
Somatics is how you call it back.
What somaCREATIVE™ is built from
This is a dedication to sharing the pieces of wisdom I've gathered over the last decade — through my years working as a Creative Wellness Practitioner, through deep somatic and shamanic healing work, and through grounding all of it within a creative practice that brings your inner child back online.
Not as a guru. Not as a facilitator.
As a peer who has been exactly where you are — and found a way through that didn't require abandoning creativity entirely or sacrificing the body to keep it alive.
Every choice you make is a creative act. Every direction. Every decision. Your body has been holding your creative power this whole time.
It's been waiting for you to slow down enough to feel it.
