Mural

for Home Office

2023

I had been freelancing on and off now for 2 years here, and this was my very first apartment I have ever had for myself. Not sharing it with anyone else. Taking care of my home, my first Dominican apartment which also included getting gas for my hot water and cooking, installing an inverter to avoid the power outages, refilling tubs of water to be able to drink safely.

In that space, I felt room to be able to explore what would it be to decorate my office to support me in bringing in more creative energy. To support me even more in anchoring into my office space, and more importantly, allow the creative juices to flow through even more. This was an experiment of playing with thick black lines to bring the space together, while still integrating the mango tree right in front of me to remind me even when I’m in front of a computer, nature is always with me.

It was a fun experiment that I love till this day. Since I've moved away from this space, I'm left wondering if my art is still there. I'm left wondering, in what ways can I protect my art more so that they too can have a legacy and stay here forever, even when I'm long gone. These murals sparked that curiosity going into the next years.

This curiosity led me to create pieces that don't stay behind on walls—pieces that carry the medicine and the legacy with you.
