Wooden Paintings
2022-2020
I wanted to play around with different surfaces. At the time, I was living in small homes, not a lot of space, so I wanted something portable yet small enough to have in my home while big enough to feel like I’m painting on something other than paper. I started investing in these wooden tablets and playing around with the feel.
These were all pure feeling-based. Probably my first series of just going off pure feeling, and letting go of it needing to look like something. For me each of these feel deeply ancestral. They feel free, and my ancestors feel like they're freely dancing within the space.
I played also with layering resin to add some depth. These are still in progress, mainly because I ended up realizing I didn't know how to hang them up. Some still need another layer of resin. But for now I've called this complete. More for my own Sanity. I'll keep you posted when they're finally on a wall somewhere and have their home. I wanted to display them in a gallery, but I haven't quite made it there for the polishing details. This was very much a love of the process, and being as much in the process as possible.
